What concerns most of the 14th March leaders during the Syrian occupation period is irrelevant for today as it was not their opressive policies but that of Syria.
From what i remember, MTV was shut down because it was a mouthpiece against Syrian tyranny. It was a Syrian decision to shut it down. Most of the politicians at that time were blackmailed to co-operate. That's a well known fact now.

As for the brief closure of New TV one time, we all know that NewTV is a pro-Damascus visual gramophone. Oh, look, it opened up again!Voltairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18270153260260869436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24861026.post-55472030714249222022008-05-12T18:26:00.000+03:002008-05-12T18:26:00.000+03:00Voltaire, I keep mixing up with you between you an...Voltaire, I keep mixing up with you between you and Voltaire's Priest. It is not just Hezbollah Voltaire, government majority regions usually beat you up if you form any critique on their leaders.

The government would have behaved the same if they had their power offensive. In fact, my conspiracy theory is that the government and the opposition have a lot of business deals behind the scenes as well. Dont think the government is that pious because they lack the military might.MarxistFromLebanonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02742943269564177293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24861026.post-65831658247778152592008-05-12T16:03:00.000+03:002008-05-12T16:03:00.000+03:00Here, here.Voltaire mate, I think you've come to t...Here, here.

Voltaire mate, I think you've come to the wrong place if you're trying to convince us of your March 14 propaganda. :)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14198699706987383916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24861026.post-87373572938890243172008-05-12T14:52:00.000+03:002008-05-12T14:52:00.000+03:00Voltaire, you are wrong of course. The heads of the "March 14" were the driving force (under the leadership of Rafiq Hariri) behind the closure of a great many TV stations that were critical of Hariri's rule. Ironically, it was Hariri who passed the broadcasting law through which these stations were shut down. One of the TV stations was shut down because it discussed Saudi Arabian affairs. One of the articles of the law is a ban on any sectarian incitement, which is what Future TV has been doing for a long time now. I say good riddance and some other stations should also have the same fate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24861026.post-36371590030514421012008-05-12T05:36:00.000+03:002008-05-12T05:36:00.000+03:00I'm glad that a blog site such as this one allows ...I'm glad that a blog site such as this one allows for democratic debate. Turns out Future movement were a lot more democratic than Hizbollah ever were. I don't recall 14th Marchers shutting down any opposition station.

There is a theory that has been permeating through the old left for years, which suggests that there is an Israeli/US plan to divide the middle east up into a continent of nations on the lines of sectarian cantons and that Hizbollah are fighting against this and should thus be supported. Apart from the fact that Lebanon's sectarian cantons predate US and Israel's existence, the only party that has in affect built an autonomous sectarian canton in post civil war modern Republic of Lebanon, is Hizbollah. Seperate army; Seperate telecoms; Seperate police/security; Indeed, walk in to their territory and they have seperate laws. Have you ever tried to enjoy a beer on a balcony in Tyre? Even the lines of territorial demarcation are no go areas for official state security and police, yet the state police can go anywhere they want to in the rest of the country.Voltairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18270153260260869436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24861026.post-3000398595190707832008-05-12T01:29:00.000+03:002008-05-12T01:29:00.000+03:00The Aharon Ze'evi Farkash guy is well known, he wr...The Aharon Ze'evi Farkash guy is well known, he writes stuff himself. I've read his stuff. He's a key strategist. I think it was from Israeli TV.

Speaking of which, I just saw some very horrible pictures of what happened in Shuweifat........ I don't want to see them again, and I'm guessing I'm going to have nightmares tonight... and I'm not even faint-hearted...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
